Alpaca Shearing

Colin is your expert shearer who over the past 20 years has developed and evolved his efficient shearing process which ensures that the alpacas remain calm throughout.

We provide a full service on shearing day, including wool handling, toenail trimming and a range of other husbandry services should the need arise. We only ask that you have your animals penned in and dry, bags for the fleece and towels for any mess left on the mats.

We believe in a low stress environment during shearing, for you, your alpacas and the shearing team!

Colin shears throughout the UK and Europe – from Norway down to southern France – and upward of 4000 alpacas, so please be aware that during the shearing season we are extremely busy!

General Alpaca Husbandry

Outside of the shearing season Colin is available for routine alpaca husbandry procedures. These include, toe nail trimming, teeth care (trimming and fighting teeth removal), vaccinating, mineral and wormer drenching.

Pregnancy Scanning

With state-of-the-art equipment, Colin provides a complete alpaca pregnancy scanning service.

He also scans sheep – large, small, pedigree, commercial flocks are all covered. The optimum time for scanning sheep is 70-90 days post service so it’s really worth booking Colin as soon as the tups come out.

And yes, pigs get scanned too! With an average gestation period of three months, three weeks and three days, Colin is constantly in demand with south west commercial pig units, but he will always find the time to scan your herd – just ask.

Colin will always help if he can.
